Hello Everyone! This week was really fun for me! I went out to eat a lot and on Wednesday even went to Takashimaya in Nihombashi which is a really famous department store.

Food

This week I was really craving pasta so I went to a pasta restaurant near my school for lunch at got this month's May special. It was delicious with mentai, nori, bacon, and onions. Afterwards I went to Baskin Robbins which is actually called 31 here and got ice cream. If you call it Baskin Robbins, people will just look at you confused. I really enjoy the fact that in Japan 31 has rotating flavors, it definitely makes the experience more fun. I got matcha kinako, popping shower, and burgundy cherry.

Takashimaya

On Wednesday since I don't have any classes I decided to check out Nihombashi. I know I've already been there a couple times but honestly it is always fun to go there. There's always a new restaurant or shop to visit. This week I decided to go to Takashimaya because I wanted to eat at a famous Unagi restaurant that is located in the department store. The unagi was delicious and since I arrived at 11:30 am I beat the rush and was able to be seated quickly. Unagyuu is expensive so my meal did cost about 3,800円 but it was totally worth it. Afterwards I walked to Mitsukoshi which is another department store about 15 minutes away. I spent some time just browsing before deciding to get tea before I head home. I got tea and scones at a cafe located on the B1 floor on Mitsukoshi. It was a really fancy store but the scones came with clotted cream and strawberry jam. It was the perfect way to end the day.

The Summer Heat

On Thursday, temperatures in Tokyo went up to 31 °C which is 87.8°F. It was extremely hot and felt like the summer. Japanese weather fluctuates so much. My grandparents tell me the weather doesn't usually fluctuate so much but it has been getting more and more extreme in the recent years (probably due to climate catastrophe) . One day its really rainy and cold and the next it feels like summer.

Due to the heat as soon as I got to school I got a fruit smoothie and ice cream at a nearby 7-11. It was really refreshing and surprising cheap. That day after my classes, I also got a kebab wrap from a food cart near the entrance to my school.

That's all I did this week. I know it seems like I spent most of my time eating and that is true, I do. Japan has very delicious food.

Until next week...😊
