Hello Everyone! It has been so hot in Japan this week. I've been spending my last few days in Japan just relaxing and going to a few different places. One of the places I visited and totally recommend is Setagaya in Tokyo.
Wakabayashi, Setagaya
I mostly visited the Wakabayashi area of Setagaya which is a neighborhood in Tokyo. It is a lot less glamorous than Ginza but a really fun place nonetheless. In Wakabayashi, I visited two different cafes and got dinner. The prices were cheaper but the food was delicious as always.
The first cafe I went to was really quiet and nice. I got hojicha tea and bread with Hokkaido butter. It was really filling and the cafe's atmosphere was fantastic. The second cafe I went to was more of a sweet's shop that sold strawberry everything. From cakes to puddings to different strawberry drinks. I got a strawberry tart and a strawberry lemonade. It was really refreshing because of the heat and the strawberries were really sweet.
Finally I got dinner at this little hole in the wall restaurant that only sold kaisendons. I got the basic kaisendon which had a lot of different fish from salmon, ahi, and octopus. After eating 2/3 of the kaisendon, you can ask the cook to make the rest of it into ochazuke which is where the pour hot tea on top of the kaisendon. This was really delicious as well and kind of softened the flavors.
Setagaya all in all is a fantastic neighborhood to check out if you are in Tokyo.
