Hello Everyone!!! This week I've been pretty busy with classes but I did go to watch Kabuki and eat at a cafe.
Kabuki

From Monday to Friday this week, I was crazy busy with classes but I decided to go to the Kabuki theatre in Ginza with my grandma on Saturday. Kabuki is traditional Japanese theatre and is know for its exaggerated makeup and facial expressions, old Japanese words, dances, and beautiful costumes. I've been really wanting to go to a kabuki show for a couple years now and I finally went on Saturday. It was amazing. Currently, in May there are these special Kabuki performances/shows being held. The one I watched was a lunch matinee and started from 11:00 am until about 3:00 pm. There are two 30 minute intermissions between each act (there are 3 acts). Honestly, it is very unique and was definitely a feast for the eyes and ears but I didn't really understand what was happening. If someone asked me what the plot was, I couldn't really tell you.
After the kabuki performance my grandma and I went to Mitsukoshi which is a department store to get late lunch. I got Japanese stuffed cabbage rolls with melted cheese on top. It had a very nice deep tomato flavor and the meat was very juicy.
Afterwards, my grandma and I went to the B1 floor and shopped around for bread, castella (type of sponge cake), and for dinner.
It was a very long day but incredibly fun. I would highly recommend going to see a kabuki show at least once, even if you can't understand what is going on as it is incredibly entertaining to watch.

Soufflé Pancakes

This week I also went to a cafe with a friend and her family. We got brunch at a coffee place called Hoshino Coffee. I got a soufflé pancake with custard sauce and a hot earl grey. The soufflé pancake was really soft and the sauce was just sweet enough.
I went out to eat with my friend and her family because for one of my classes, I have to interview someone working in Japan to write a report on them and their experience. I personally don't know anyone who works in Japan so I asked my friend if her dad was willing to be interviewed for my project. Thankfully he said yes so I spent a couple hours interviewing my friend's dad for a class project.
I'm sorry this week's update is quite short as well. I'm honestly just having fun living my day-to-day university life but I also know that just talking about my classes isn't very interesting so I'm just putting the more fun stuff I do.
Until next week...😊
