Hello Everyone! This week I was able to go to Narita Shin-shoji Temple with my grandparents to celebrate my birthday.
Narita Shin-shoji & Unagi
This week I went to visit Narita Shin-shoji Temple which is one of the oldest temple's in Japan. It is a very popular temple to visit during New Years. I've always wanted to visit, not only to see the temple but to also eat at one of the famous unagi restaurants nearby. My grandparents and I thankfully went on a cloudy day so it wasn't too hot.
After getting to the Keisei-Narita station, the temple is about a 15 minute walk. But the road leading to the temple is actually lined with many interesting shops like: restaurants, senbei (rice cracker) shops; where they make the senbei by hand, Japanese traditional sweet shops, omiyage shops, and basket weaver shops. It was really fun to visit all of the stores and I definitely recommend going.
Narita Shin-shoji is the biggest temple I've ever been too and I definitely think it's way better than Asakusa's Kaminari-mon. After visiting the temple my grandparents and I went to Surugaya which is one of the more popular unagi restaurants where they actually charcoal grill the unagi at the front of the restaurant so as you pass by you can watch.
The unagi was delicious, the best I've ever eaten in my life. The unagi its self was very soft and easy to cut through while the sauce was not too heavy but more refreshing.
After eating I also got an ice-cream and bought some senbei before heading home.

After getting home, I found out my grandparents had ordered a birthday cake for me so I picked it up from a patisserie nearby, it was a Sacher-Torte (chocolate cake). It was again very delicious and a great way to end the day.

I also got pizza from Domino's this week. I got the Quattro Giant, which had four flavors; mayo potato, garlic, teriyaki, and pepperoni & veggies.
It is very different from American pizza but I really enjoyed the fact you could get four different flavors on the same pizza. It was a really fun experience.
This week I had a ton of fun for my birthday but I'm also looking forward to next week when I go to Osaka. My post next week will be a little late because I won't be able to post until I get back to Tokyo.
Until Next Week...😊
